History...

When released in 1984 /85 Pinarello sold the bike with a panto C-Record (first Generation) Group. The frame seems to be younger. The 1st Montello from 1984/85 came with out a pump peg (braze-on for a pump). As far as I know the peg was introduced in 1989/90. At that time the frame was only 2nd choice for the pro's. The tsx (Gavia) substituted the slx (Montello) as top of the line. My vote: 3rd Gen. C-Record or Chorus for this first class Pinarello...

... By the way the decal-set must be a replacement. I think the frame is repainted. These decals are not originally used by Pinarello...

thanks for the info, I just got a polished Record C crankset do you know what BB will fit this? I hear i need a spindle of 111?
any feedback would be welcomed.

bb axle length

Road or Track Double Crankset 109mm length
(SP 65; SP or SS 68; SP or SS 70 )

Road Triple Crankset 112 and / or 113mm length
(SS 68 or SS 70)

65, 68, 70 indicates the bb width of the frame in millimeter.

Never heard somthing about a chagne of the taper... sorry.

Full Campy group..

I would go with a full Campy Carbon Record group on this bike. I love vintage/modern bikes, and would kill to have an old Pinarello to build up like that.
