I grew up with this one and we both have the scars to prove it. The only multi-speed bike I've ever owned(!) until '08. Never did fix that droopy kickstand.
Most worthwhile upgrades:
- SunTour alloy stem shifters (perfect-fit replacement for the cr*ppy originals)
- alloy front rim
- KoolStop pads
- modern saddle on the old alloy stem - details.. see my (pohlf) post in: Schwinn Varsity Seatpost
Since getting back into biking in '07, it's been my trainer and grocery-getter, proving to myself that I really do enjoy riding.
