After nearly a year and a half I have completed this build. While I still have nearly all the original parts, the only original parts on the bike now are the rear derailleur, wheel, and cogs. I can't imagine needing to add anything more. Great, great ride.

I'm selling this frame, fork, and most of the components. If you're interested shoot me an email at buymybike at digaphobia.com

Awesome bike. How do you

Awesome bike. How do you find the gearing with the 34t ring? I have a 36t on my 1x8 and I find it a little low sometimes, but maybe it's flatter where I am.

I built this while living in

I built this while living in Los Angeles, at the time wanting gearing which I could ride anywhere. The 34T seemed like a good middle ground between climb and flat. I haven't ridden this (offroad) since moving to Oregon, but I suspect I may need to drop a couple of teeth when I do.

Rigid

Me like the rigid/rigid ride and 9 speeds are the way to go!!!

Kona Explosif

No that's not the original fork on the Kona, that was a Track Two rigid fork. The forks on it are 1992 Answer Manitous, bought as new in '92 they have elastomer bumpers inside that give nearly half an inch of travel in the warm weather! I don't know what happened to the Track Twos, I think my folks threw them away after I moved out a long time ago.
Kudos on the Jamis, it would make an awesome single speed. I love old steel mountain bikes.

frame

congrats on a great buy. frame like this is a real treasure and deserves to be maintained as well as possible. enjoy
