Aerodynamic Pinarello made in 1985/86. Frame, stem and handlebars were found at a thrift store of all places. C Record gruppo is from 1984. I had a small dent fixed on the downtube. I also had a few hairline scratches professionally touched up before it was clear coated. 99% of the paint is original, though.

my god...

that head tube...and internal cable routing?? I make sex on this bike.

Guerciotti?

This panto c-record Group reminds me of a Guerciotti panto Group once seen...

I'm Not Sure

I bought the gruppo from Ray Dobbins. You can see it on the Bottecchia on his web site. But it wasn't original even to that bike. He thought it came off a show bike, but then I spotted the identical gruppo in a Somec catalog:

So I don't know if Somec did the pantographing or if they were merely resellers. Thankfully, there's no hint of Somec anywhere on the parts. In any case, the gruppo was made in '84, which is within a year or two of the frame, and has an aero look that I like. Its graphics are also generic enough that they'd probably look okay on most any mid-80's Italian bike.

by the way...

This is the ultimate -

a full 1st gen. C-Record panto group on a aerodynamic pinarello frame - overwhelming!

Zephyrus - ...may the lucky wind be with you!

I appreciate the compliment.

I appreciate the compliment. In the interest of full disclosure, what you see is not quite a full C Record gruppo. The C Record shifters that came with the gruppo would not mount flush against the bosses. So I had to resort to Super Record shifters, which was unexpected given that the gruppo predates the frame (according to Pinarello) by at least a year.

@
