Original: Bars stamped "Maes" and "Reynolds Aluminum Alloy". Stem is chrome plated steel

Original: "Dunlop Special Lightweight" 27 x 1-1/4", steel, 32 hole. Raleigh hub

Mavic aluminum replacement, 27 x 1-1/4, 40 hole. S-A AW hub dated 1953

Original cottered crank, 26 tpi BB threads

Original Brooks B15 and steel post

Original Raleigh pedals

46-17 with 3 speed Sturmey-Archer AW hub

My dad bought this new in 1953; he had the local Western Auto store special order it for him. The original rear rim is bent so I had to find something to replace it. The bike had not been ridden for over 35 years before this year. I cleaned it all up and put it back into rideable condition. I put a few miles on it every once in a while.

Talk to the Hand!

I hope you'll treat it gently. I almost never see ones as nice as this. You might consider asking the Classic Rendezvous list (which is just for pre-1983 bikes) if they can hook you up with a period correct replacement rim. I'm sure they'd enjoy seeing pics of it.
