I RUN 13/48, THIS BIKE IS FAST.

I REPAINTED THE WHOLE FRAME WITH AUTOMOTIVE PAINT, EXCEPT FOR THE REAR CHAIN STAY. IT SAYS 666 CAUSE BEFORE I PAINTED IT, IT SAID, 6160 T6 ALUMINUM, LIKE I WOULDNT KEEP IT!

another fixie clone on tri

another fixie clone on tri spokes, with a tough guy running a big gear. haha this is a joke right?

So sick, good looking bike.

So sick, good looking bike. Just a suggestion gear down and save your knees. If you are commuting on this inevitably your stopping distance will far exceed when you have to actually stop. (not trying to be dick by any means)

badass

straight gangster. what city do you ride? do you ever stop?

??

does the word doored mean anything to you? get a brake on that thing, or down the gearing.

15 pounds? I don't think

15 pounds? I don't think so.

13/48 is insane!

13/48 is insane!

its not THAT insane, its

its not THAT insane, its fast as crap though. very nice

real Track setups

start running 52/13 and get used to speed... and your legs popping during the skid

WHA?

uh pretty sure 52/13 would be like 4 crank revs to 1 wheel rev.. now thats fast.

WOW

Ever seen a 13 tooth crank chainring?... or a 52 tooth cog?

Dumb?

52 teeth chainring to 13 teeth cog would give you what?

ha

Sorry you, you write it smallest to largest, you wrote it backwards. thats the only reason i said that. a 13 tooth cog and 52 tooth chainwheel would only give me 8 more inches per rev.. . so its not that much faster anyway. but a 52 tooth cog and 13 tooth chain wheel, like you wrote it, would be almost standing still... soo

Ha?

8 more inches per rev is not much faster anyway??? wow you really know a lot about gears...

one of the dumbest things ive ever seen

Gearing...

I've pushed some big gears and know some guys that do the same. I'm a messenger and these guys are as well so things apply differently to a guy just riding for commute/fun.

But running that big a gear on the street BRAKELESS isn't really the best for you. I've run 48:14, 48:11, 49:14, 52:12, 50:14. It's the best feeling to be able to chill at 35 mph with the cars but when it comes down to an "Oh Shit" moment, you aren't going to be able to stop in any time quick enough.

I don't have anything against running a big gear (my definition of big is 85 or more gear inches, Keiran/Sprint territory basically), I love it actually. it's just a fucking hassle on the body to get that shit going and then having to stop it. Especially in traffic... more thinking ahead than I'd like... and 48:13... that's thinking ahead about 600ft (3 uptown/downtown blocks here in NYC).

Where do you ride?
