now that is a loverly bicycle, congrats! but you might want to look into your toe strap setup, move them forward?

I have my straps set-up that way to. It gets the rear strap behind the outside toe bone and is more secure. Would not change it.

just curious, but doesn't that make it more difficult to get into the pedals though? not that it really matters on the track...

Yes, it makes it more difficult to get into the pedals, when you try to kick around the pedal the front strap gets in the way.

BUT, like said it puts the strap further back behind the curve of the foot and pulls it forward and down. Combined with the shimano toe clip cleats makes it nice and sturdy, you would have trouble pulling your foot out.
