New Brooks Team Pro w/copper rails

Shimano SPD, nickle plated 3/32"

48 / 16 81 gear inches, 1/3 ratio

Modified to 700c track wheels out of the box, added the old stock horn tank 'cause....it works! Adds about 3 lbs., otherwise the bike tips the scales at 20lbs. Non-cruiser geometry....it handles well. Has other track wheels on it now, deeper section rims and Formula large flange FF hubs, with 30mm tires. Rides sweet. Will post pics when I take 'em.

Ah good

I am glad to see the bigger tires and rims, that is better. What is that jet pack under the seat?! For this bike, that fuel tank had better be filled with beer, or maybe bourbon.

I would like to recommend putting the tank back on.

I used to ride the serious trails outside of Hell, MI several years back.

Tires

Ah, glad to hear you put bigger tires. The 23's seem to dainty, you would have to carefully watch the quality of your pavement.

Is that a long reach front brake? What is that?

rennovated Typhooler

Thanks for the comment Brian. The tires are standard roadbike fare...23mm. I didn't feel the least bit vulnerable with them, but the new wheels have large flange hubs and aero rims, both black, that along with the 30mm tires bring on a look of "balloonish" proportion when veiwed from the side. Oh yeah, they ride WAY better, if slower. I also replaced the fork with a Litespeed full carbon fork. I painted it black and I'm looking for another set of silver Schwinn Dart decals for it. I installed the fork with a Cane Creek S-6 headset, and used a grey Shimano 600 dual pivot front brake. I think I have a couple microns clearance! When the weather turns, I'll be taking pics of it and posting them on this site and my Flicker (Velodog):

As for the old brake, it is a Shimano of undetermined level. Longer reach? Yes, but notice that the shoes are all the way up the slot (minimum reach). I'm antsy to see how the new set-up rides, it dropped the front by over an inch. I had to raise the stem to compensate, but there should be lots of ground clearance left because the BB was so high to begin with, and the stock HT angle is 71.5 degrees. It should handle quicker, but I'm staying out of the crits with it! I don't race. I just added 2 more of these to my collection to make it 4. Too much fun. Greg
