impressive

Nice pics, and an impressive journey. While I haven't biked across 10 lanes in quezon city, I have rollerbladed across 8 in kuala lumpur :) I'm now inspired to pack a bike on my next trip over...

The PI

Wow, a fixed gear in the Philippines! Do they have a fixed gear culture or are you the only one? Some of the roads conditions there are unmerciful for track bikes. I need to get back there, especially for photography shots.

PI

i didn't see any other fixed gear bikes in the philippines, but a lot of people do ride. i once went to this place called memorial circle in quezon city where a lot of people get all decked out wearing spandex to race each other. it's basically a huge circle around a park where you can ride at top speed and not worry about traffic. you do, however, have to cross 10 lanes of traffic to get there without any stop lights...and that was quite crazy. there are also a lot of people who bike up and down a long and hard incline to get to and from antipolo...and i don't think i could imagine ever doing that fixed. but around manila i did see people riding at all times of the day.
