Shimano 105 (black)

Saddle and Seat Post:
fizik carbon aliante saddle on Thompson 27.0mm post

Pedals and Chain:
Welgo clips (to be swapped soon for clipless)

Cog/Gearing et cetera:
shimano 8-speed with two spacers = 6 speed, Real flat bar brake levers, mountain grips, bar ends, Shimano 105 brakes (black)

Notes:

A friend of mine built this bike and after my admiring it in our bike room, he gave it to me to ride. He had spray painted the frame from the KHS blue of 2003 to a Krylon black (maybe someday I'll have it stripped and powder-coated ...), so it's not worth much for resale. Many thanks to this great guy who got me back into riding with his generosity.

It's a BLAST to ride, particularly with the lightweight components and the straight (responsive) fork. Many plans to tweak it ... maybe even single-speed it after my legs get back into riding trim.

With the all black kit, Aero spokes, blue tires, and flat bars, this baby turns some heads.

if it's down ....

but yeah, it's almost always down. this was taken the day of a five-boroughs ride (which passed me going the other way ...) with tons of cyclists coming over from Queens. also the same day as the FarmAid concert. trick is that you can't come up from the UN 'cause the FDR construction has f'd it all up. and you have a weird time at the Triborough north of there where the path is interrupted.

you can ride across (carefully, the pavement is f'd up in some places and the steel grid comes through), and then ride around the prison, across to Randall's Island, and even across the pedestrian passage over the bridge to Queens.

and there's a pedestrian bridge over the FDR that connects to it too, though I usually come up from Carl Schurz Park at Gracie Mansion
