whoa...resto project

so last night, i was conversing with my uncle tom. i told him i rode a bianchi pista. and thus, the flood gates were open. he gave me the lowdown on his circa 60s-70s velodrome racing days, bike building, silver soldering, lugs, columbus tubes, italian frames, no welds allowed on the track!, cat and mouse track racing tactics, conditioning for sprint races, time trials, how he used to get smoked by short dudes with horse legs, how japan track racing is tainted, the beauty in racing for the love, how custom bike builders were common "in the old days", and the need to ride everyday. two times a day. every day. one of the most awesome and inspiring conversations i've had in quite a while.

and to top it all off, he passed his brother's vintage bianchi road frame down to me...said its life almost ended in the trash from their last move, until he saved it from the junk pile. and that was when i vowed to restore it to its originalityness. many thanks.
