I love cargo bikes, and your passenger grab idea is beautiful. This may have pushed me toward xtracycle town. Sweet bike, very well put together.

Re: the "stoker" bars, I just picked up a cheap old threadless stem and some crappy old bars, and cut them way down (so I don't crack my ankle on them when I get on the bike). FWIW, a 1 1/8 stem is 28.5 mm or so, so you can shim your seatpost accordingly....
