RIP

I no longer have this bike it was destroyed in a bike vs. car accident.

my bike

I am only riding brakeless because I have rims being built with a fixed hub

i saw a guy riding in front

i saw a guy riding in front of me last week who had a single speed with no brakes - he would just put his foot back onto the top of the rear wheel and wedge it sideways into the seatstays (like a brake)

i could smell the rubber on his shoes cooking / burning from like 10 feet back.

Do you brake with your shoe?

Do you brake with your shoe? Or a stick?

Super-Zen

You just have to plan way ahead! Even more than riding fixed brakeless. In an emergency you just lay the bike down like a motorcycle. It's like Zen taken to the next level.

but

if its single speed why don't you just screw a fixed cog on it and make it fixed gear ?

single speeds and fixed are diff

Fixed is reverse treading.
U can't use a normal thead on a fixed cz the reverse tension is stronger then the forward. The cog and lock rig will unscrew.

You can use a bottom bracket

You can use a bottom bracket lockring on the threaded hub and it works fine. It's just that your chances of spining it are greater with a lot of abuse. Use in combo of a brake and there should be no problem. I've done it to many of my friends cheap ass thrift bikes and it works great.
Though your skin does have more suface area and thus more braking power, so for the best performance the lay down and bight it method is by far the best.

no brake ss

then you wouldn't be able to lay the bike down like a motorcycle. that's the whole fun of it. chicks dig road rash.
