I've been riding this bike for about 6 months. The curved seatstays were somewhat of a hetchins tribute. I knew this bike was going to be my around-town bike so I figured sacrificing a little stiffness for the sake of comfort and road vibration dampening might make sense. The stays do "flex" but only enough to absorb vibrations. The high end tubing also ensures that it isn't squishy on the track. The tight geometry makes it very responsive. All of this makes it a great bike for playing in traffic on a daily basis.
