Peugeot Mixte

This isn't my bike. It was a pet project of mine at the bike coop. This pretty frame was in pretty rough shape with a non french 22.2 mm stem jammed into it's 22.0 mm french steerer tube with some bent steel bars. It had half a cottered crankset with a bent cotter pin, and the shifters, derailer, and rear brake. Otherwise it was stripped. It was in a pretty sad state, and it kept calling out to me. Begging me to save it from it's destiny in the scrap pile, and whispering of the beauty it could become. It was a long process, and a labor of love turning this thing back into a bike. I donated some of my own parts, and another coop volunteer pitched in the square taper BB spindle. I had to cut the old cottered BB spindle to get the Precious drive side french cup off. It's a great rider as it is, but I think it could be better with 6 speed indexed thumb shifters and SIS derailers. I want someone to love this bike, so I think I will update it to modern(ish) shifting.

You’re a Saint, bless you

You’re a Saint, bless you for raising the dead so that it may live again…

great project build up!

...and obviously done with a lot of care and attention to detail like a surgeon operating on a patient...(I may start calling you "Doc" from now on! ...)
