Paramount vs Waterford?

So you got to tell me how does your NeoParamount compare to your '72 Paramount? Both are beautiful bikes.

The Waterford accelerates much quicker

Thanks for the compliment. The ride quality and handling are very similar. That's not surprising since the geometry of both bikes is virtually identical, and both use quality double-butted tube sets. Because it's six pounds lighter, the Waterford is a better climber and accelerates faster. I've adapted quickly to the Waterford's Campy Ergo shifters, and really like the precise gear shifting. I'm toying with the idea of getting lighter wheels, saddle, and a carbon fork just to see what effect a three or four pound weight loss would have on climbing.

incredible looking frame

but in these photos it looks set up wrong, the open pros look bland, no style, sorry. Brooks also looks odd with all the new school campy carbon, and whats up with those pedals. Are you just cruzing this thing down to the coffee shop? Anyways this setup is beautiful...

Thanks for the comments. I

Thanks for the comments. I like building my own wheels, and have had good luck with the 36h 3-cross laced Open Pros. Stylish they ain't, but neither am I. :-)

I love Brooks saddles, and haven't found any I like better for longer rides (not that I haven't tried lots of others).

The rattrap platform pedals are what I use on city streets, and they get switched out for SPD-SL clipless when I'm on longer rides in the country (Marin, east bay, peninsula). I try to do at least one 100 mile day ride a month, which gets this 65 year old codger some exercise.

ah i see

makes more sense that it would be set up that way for an older rider

Scooper, I remember you talking about these stainless steel bikes but I've never seen one. Your bike stable is outstanding!

Great! I'll be looking for it. I ordered this one in October and got it yesterday (May 2), but it was worth the wait.
