to be a single or maybe...

Im stoked about building this one up. I recently spent only 30 bones and ended up with 14 hours of work and a awesome recoat that looks sharp to me, but will help to assure the carbon underneith is well preserved as the previous paint had a bita' wear.

My question to ya'll is advice on componets to add to a carbon frame such as this. As my expreiance in cycling is minimal, and rather then frankenstin it, I would rather continue putting my heart into it.

Big Ups to all others on the board... this place is real.

the seat

Mano mano..

I have an old brooks seat thats from the 50's and seen some miles...
The leather is shot, so I drove about 75 miles today to a cat who makes horse saddles. He was gracious enough to sell me a peice of 11 oz hide for a new saddle top!

So I just got done making a con-crete mold of the seat for the leather to cure on. Also, Just picked up a handful of copper handhammer rivets from our local hardware store.

Look for a freshy seat on this frame in a couple weeks or so.
Conversly, if it turns up nice, Id love to help others refurbish an old brooks for a reasonalb price...

Best up ya'll

Mad Love

For the ILLinois badge! Im originally from chicago, but transplanted (by choice) in Southern California

as far as build suggestions, are you looking cost effective, or effective no matter the cost?

because if that frame is what really fits you, you should most definately put EXACTLY what you want on it. whether its all composite, or O.G. campy/dura ace. either way you do it, make it your own doggy!
good luck

oh yea, the crest...

If anyone ever seeks one of these crests seasoned to their home state, or any other simple silloett, Id love to make some more. I have a bunch of scrap bamboo around, and Im a stickler about things not being waste till their dust. Thanks for the tips thus far tho...

Im working on trying to re-leather my 63' brooks b17. Its got some rips and scuffs, and though its still ridable, I feel with the repaint and all, this bike demands renewal. Any tips here on the saddle would be priceless...

Best of the season!

This would be my

This would be my set-up:

Wheels:
Either 105 hub to Open Pro orRovalPave (I'm partial to those wheels, plus the Red "S" does them)

Shimano 105 group with an FSA Gossamer crank, or Race Face Cadence (both cost effective and good)

FSA Wing Pro Compact bars

Thomson seat post

Then your own saddle and such. That's my suggestion! I bet she'll be a sweet hoopty.

Freshy Brooks!

Yo again cool cats...

Just got done with a couple day project of refurbishing an old Brooks. Got the leather froma' local Horse saddler, its 10oz. Copper hand set rivets were obtained from local hardware shop.
From a junked old seat to this for only in materials and a couple days work? No doubt.
I would do it again too...Ieee, if anyones got an old brooks/similar frame, send me a pm. I'd love to bring another back to life.

I just cant wait till I get some more parts so I can ride this beaut.

-Big ups ya'll-
