46:15 at the moment... too hard

The bike is a bit rigged at the moment. I have a FSA ZS3 headset on it's way. Once I have that, chop the fork steer tube to length, replace the stem with a 80mm 0˚, perhaps throw on some deep Vs... then she'll be done.

I have a 17t and an 18t

I have a 17t and an 18t lying around. I think I'll throw on the 17 for the benefit of the skid patches. I don't have a big problem stopping with 46:15, it's accelerating that really gets in the way - in the city I meet a lot of stop/go situations.

Thanks for the input!

Yeah that 17 will definitely

Yeah that 17 will definitely help. I ride mainly primarily city, downtown san diego. Acceleration up hills and flat land is great 46/17.

Try using a 17 cog with your

Try using a 17 cog with your 46 chainring. I like that alot. You'll end up with around 70.4 gear inches and 17 skid patches. I'm using a 47 chainring and 17 cog giving me around 74.5 gear inches and 17 skid patches.

Your at 15 skid patches and 82.8 gear inches. Pretty hard to stop. You if you change to the said gearing you should be able to go up hills easier and stop easier.

It's not that hard to stop or climb.

I ride 49/15 with no issues while maintaining a cadence of 90rpm on level ground. Once I built up my leg muscles, my knees stopped being bothered by it, too.

I'm pretty sure cadence

I'm pretty sure cadence you'd have no issues, but at 88.2 gear inches, I'm sure it's pretty hard to stop brakeless. If you primarily ride flat, I'm sure you can get away with it, but where I ride it a pretty good mixture of flatlands and hills.

I ride clipless pedals

so it isn't too tough to stop.
I live just south of denver, colorado. I have my fair share of hills.
