I built this with great defference to the European city bikes of the last hundred (or so) years. This is basically my version, made with double butted True Temper so it's way lighter. The rack's 4130 and I can sit on it (though I can't do that and ride at the same time). It took a couple rides to get used to sitting upright, but I'm beginning to see the birds and the treetops again and that's pretty special. By the way, these pics were taken at Cafetto, my favorite coffee shop in Minneapolis.

Beautiful

I would love a bike like this. Take good care of it.

rackspace.org

Someone should start a site dedicated to well thought out racks. The functionality and utilitarianism of this bike reminds me of japanese handsaws, built for hard labor but beautiful in their simple design.
As for the trees and such, I think that's what drives most of us to bikes, the pleasure of doing nothing but pedaling down the street on a sunny day...

Thanks for sharing your bikes, they're all very special.
