1972 Schwinn Super Sport filet brazed chrome-moly. Not sure why the paint looks bad in these pics its actually quite nice...

Schwinn Randonneuring bend, Schwinn stem.

stock

stock Schwinn approved hub, Weinmann rim, 27" Schwinn High Pressure Puff tire LOL, rubber is still good.

same as front

Bought a bottom bracket conversion on ebay to replace the 1 piece Astabula crank with a TA crank and standard bottom bracket.

Brooks B-15, NOS Schwinn Approved Carridace bag.

MKS pedals and clips, cheapo chain.

Schwinn stem shifters, Shimano Crane GS rear, Thunderbird front (off a Lambert Aerospace) they kind of match.

Weinmann brakes with safety levers.

Touring freewheel, like a 14 - 30 or something, TA Pro 5 Vis 46 / 28 chainrings.

I have always wanted one of these and found this one for cheap on CL. Couldn't see hauling that 10 pound Astabula crank around so I tried one of those bottom bracket conversion kits. It works well although sticks out from the bottom bracket shell a few mm. So you need a longer than normal spindle, the only one I had is like a 120 and that puts the non drive side way out fromt he bike. I will update with a 115 non-symetric spindle and should be good to go. Did a 40 mile break in today and it rides great.

Very Nice!

It's great to see another Super Sport with an alloy 3-piece cotterless triple crank. Congrats!

Mine's actually a double

Mine's actually a double with 46/28 rings but same idea, able to climb anything. Finally got some TA dustcaps (36 bucks shipped to go on my 25 dollar bike Hah!). I hope to come across a filet brazed Sports Tourer someday too.

After further scrutiny

I'd say lose the bag and get a nicer one....other than that it's mint!

Really?

the bag is a NOS, Schwinn Approved, made in England Carradice type bag, heavy canvas, leather straps, what could be nicer?
