this bike has been in my family since 1972 when my dad bought it new. he gave it to me in 1975. i ride it every day around town and wherever these days as i don't have a car right now. hence the ragged bar tape. i'm not sure what the model name is. maybe someone out there could let me know.

!!! check out MY BAND !!!

People who friended this bike abstrait

i think I have seen this bike around!

you live in monterey? i swear i saw this exact bike or else one that is built up exactly the same at mpc! what a coincidence if this is the same bike!!

dig your Mercian!

Great Mercian with an excellent color combination. It's amazing how many British rides of this era had that similar seatcluster; I have the same affair on my Raleigh Pro Track and it's seen on a plethora of models out there. While I might ditch the rack for the clean aspect, there is no argument regarding the usefulness. On top of that, I'm writing this at 3:31am while listening to your band, digging the psychedelic aspect! You need a Swart SST-30! heh... I'd hook you guys up with one of these beasts just because I like your stuff, bang the skins, and you have a damn nice ride.

right on man. thanks for

right on man. thanks for checkin' out the music.

Pics? Also, you may want to ask the guy who maintains the Mercian Cycles Register as to which model it is.

your bikes

oh yeah. nice bikes dude. that's a super bitchin' cinelli and that rene herse is awesome.

mercian model

hi
yeah i've sent that guy a couple of messages but have'nt heard back from him. thanks. and i put some pics up. later.

Thanks. Is it possible it's

Thanks. Is it possible it's a '72 and not a '68? The Mercian Register mentioned they were inconsistent w.r.t serial numbers, but that beginning in 1970 they used the last 2 digits to reflect the year of manufacture. Also, is there a numeric stamp on the rear derailleur and crank arm? If the parts are original, they may give you a better sense of when it was made. Same with the brakes. I think '68 was the first year Campy made brakes and they had no logo. If yours do, they're newer than '68.

Anyway, you might want to email Mercian Cyles. They'd know much more about your bike than I.

part dates

hey thanks man. i checked the rear derailleur and it's pat.71 i guess my memory was a year off after all these years and that would correspond with the serial #. it sure can't be a '68, so i'll update my page. later.
