Centurion "Pro" bought new in Southern California in about 1974. The shop had the bike with the original Universal Mod 61 center pull brakes marked for 380. (I went in and bought a pair of Phil Wood hubs, new, for 45. I still have those hubs, they have been ridden countless miles, and they are smoother than a baby's butt). A week or two later I was back for something else and noticed the Centurion had a set of Campy brakes and the price was increased to 400. (They had still used the much shorter center-pull cables and housings that were really stretched out and unreasonable angles... go figure). Anyway, I told my father about the bike and he went in the next day or so and bought it. Been in the family ever since. I changed a few things here and there over the years, freewheel, rims, handlebars and stem… some of the things that were originally cheap, presumably cost-cutting items.
