Peugeot U0-8

Nitto drop bars with SR quill sanded down per Sheldon Brown to fit 22.0

Mavic MA-40 with Panaracer "Pasela"

Mavic MA-40 with Panaracer "Pasela"

Tapped bottom bracket to British threads for square tapered spindle, Shimano 600 crankset

Selle Italia Flite saddle with SR seat post (also sanded to fit).

Sakae SX track pedals with Power Grips

Shimano 6 speed cassette, Shimano 105 SIS shifters, 105 derailleurs front and rear, and one terribly useful kickstand.

I've been putting this bike together bit by bit for a while. It is intended as a daily rider, around town kind of bike. I was thrilled to learn how easy it is to have the bottom bracket tapped out to British threads. Only cost me 30 bucks to do it. The whole bike was original with leather saddle, etc. when I bought it for 29.99. I saved all the parts in case I get weird and decide to rebuild it stock. (Not likely, I dig the 105 shifters way too much to give them up for the plastic Simplex ones it came with). I am keeping the kickstand. It's very useful and justifies the weight and dork factor, IMHO.

Purple power

That color is mind bendingly awesome!

Yes yes... My purple U0-8

Yes yes... My purple U0-8 is much like this one, white tape, black seat and gum tires... I like your fenders. I was thinking of getting a rear rack on mine. You mentioned how easy it is to get the threads tapped out to British threads, but did you know that Velo Orange just started making a sealed French threaded bottom bracket? That is what I have in mine.

French Threads

I've seen the various Phil Woods options that are available, but, the cost of them seemed a little steep to me, and I don't have a local source for them, and it was so easy to have the threads tapped out to British that it seemed like a better idea for me. But, whatever keeps them rolling is good.

Not Phil.

Only 20 more than you paid. Makes no difference now, but maybe keep this in mind if you ever have another french threaded project.

Veloorange bottome bracket

Thanks, I checked it out and I think that's what I'll use on my PX-10 project I've got coming up.

Thanks again!
