bought in rusty condition from hilary stone as a carlton team frame, i later learned (through the help of a few english gentlemen from CR list and CL list) that it is most likely a colin cape of swindon, uk, possibly built by stan pike or wally green (who some think was named harry. go figure). it was identified by the CC stamp on the BB (easily confused with carlton cycles) and the wraparound stays.
a good chain of events put me in posession of a set of original cape decals but i have yet to be able to contact colin himself or any reference of an original cape, so i decided to keep them safe and not install them.
gleaming perfect silver paint by joe bell. although i asked for ice blue. go figure. it had been drilled for front and rear brakes but we filled the rear and reworked the crown a bit so that i could actually run a brake on it. laugh if you must, it's nice to have some help stopping.
the clearances are nuts, so i'm running 19mm tubulars, as anything else will hit the fork crown.
wheels built by wes oishi, initial assembly by eric zimmerman, final assembly by jim at orange 20. special thanks to hilary stone, joe bell, mick butler, soundcycles, wes oishi, eric zimmerman, orange 20, jim and kyle.
it rides very well, quick and comfortable. i'm happy.
