Frame is by Gunnar, the Waterford brand for off-the-peg, tig-welded steel bikes. Wheels by Bicycle Wheel Warehouse.

This bike went through many incarnations in two years. It was set up as everything from a pure cyclocross racing bike to a commuter to a straight up road bike. Over time, I upgraded or swapped out almost every component as I experimented to see what works. It's the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.

Just when I had it completely dialed in... I was stupid for ten minutes... and someone stole it. I learned a hard lesson that day.

The other two lessons: cantilever brakes (even the mighty Pauls) suck, and my next frame will be a Gunnar.

Bummer about your bike.

I loved my Gunnar Roadie so much that I always wanted to pick up a Cross-Hairs, but then I finally looked at a geometry sheet and realized that this was not a pure CX frame, it was more relaxed than every a Cross-Check.

Anyway, cantilevers don't suck, they just require care to set up. Personally I love them.

Well, I'm 250 - I'm built

Thanks for the condolences. :-)

Well, I'm 250 - I'm built like a football player - and my cantis shuddered and squealed even when set up by a cross mechanic. I realize I'm not a typical case.

Ahh..

At 130, it wasn't a problem for me!
