Went with the painted frame option from Alien. Quality of the frame and paint is very good, comparable to my Surly Cross Check. The bike rides great. Sticklers will note that the pedals and cog are not black, but I had to leave something for future upgrades... ;-)

No toe overlap with 700x23 tires. Rides really smooth, love this thing.

I added you to my black'out cluster, I'm proud to have you as a prime member :D On a side note a good black cog is the Dura-ace, but it only comes up til 16T. Custom Nuevo Wide from MKS is also a pretty nice pair of black pedals. Have a good ride :)

Loving the bike, Sylvans not so much

Yeah I'm not really loving the Sylvans, they're OK but because the pedal axle is lower than the cages, sometimes my shoes snag when I'm sliding into them. May look at something else for down the road, who knows.

The cog is nearly black now just from road grime. Been riding the heck out of this thing, I totally love it. Very smooth. Had to give the bars a full wrap, the track wrap was just not enough traction. Alien wheels are nice, too. Let a handful of other people ride it and they've all had very good feedback too. It's a keeper!

I've always liked the looks of these Alien frames. Looks great all blacked out too. Been going back and forth on either an Alien, or a Kazane myself.
