My parents bought me this back in 1991 (when I was 15) from a local bike shop in Strood, in the Medway Towns, owned and run by Geoff Wiles. Geoff had been a successful British road-racer in the 70s and this alone was enough for the teenage me to want a bike from his shop! I recently decided maybe it was time to treat myself to a new bike but was too wedded to this one to wave it goodbye so I decided to jettison the cruddy Shimano Exage groupset and build up the old Reynolds 531 frame with some campy components from the same era. Here is the result - around a year later, I'm ashamed to say - with a lovely respray and (mainly) 1990-95 parts. The Tomassini forks are rather at odds with the old-school British 531, I know, but I saw them on ebay and fell in love with the idea of chrome. And the decals are home made - nothing like the orginal Geoff Wiles design, but I' hoping he'd approve.
Took it out for the first time today and it rides like a dream.
