This is the ex-bike of John Talen, member of the 1993 TVM - Bison-Kit racing team alongside Robert Millar (GBR), Dag Otto Lauritzen (NOR), Johan Capiot (BEL), Gert-Jan Theunisse (NED) and others. The five colors of the frame represent the national colors of all team members, but mainly the dutch and belgian flags.
John Talen earned a rainbow jersey at the 1986 World Championships in Colorado Springs for winning the 100km team time trial competition and won some smaller events in his later pro years. He even achieved to "win" the Lanterne Rouge in the 1994 Tour de France.
This very bike was participant in the 1993 TdF and even made it to the finish line in Paris that year (together with it's rider, naturally).
I got this Gazelle from the son of Bison-Kit's former boss, who got it from the TVM racing team director Cees Priem personally.
The bike is in the original TdF configuration, save the rims which were changed to clinchers.
Note the Pegoretti-style top tube, the many pantographed Gazelles and the TVM stamp in the bottom bracket shell.
And the former owner even was so kind to add to the package the very nice team jersey that he got with the bike.
You can read the full story of the bike here.
