Feels like 46/17 but I haven't counted

I would have preferred to do this on a larger frame, but this fell into my lap, and I suppose that's how these things happen. I milled the stem diameter down to the Schwinn steerer tube diameter a few mm. It doesn't seem like much, but it takes a bit of filing and sanding and polishing. Tracked down some Weinmann 810 calipers and some Wald fenders and there you have it - Shortstack Lightning. It's heavy but it's a blast on a crushed limestone path and I feel worse for the pothole than the rim when I hit one. Sold to a new owner who fit it well.

Moet and Chandon.. classy

Now that looks pretty cool…

Usually I don’t like it when an older Schwinn gets changed around much, but this has got my stamp of approval.

Nice job man!

Thanks!

I appreciate it. This was just sitting around as my bar/loaner for guests bike and I couldn't resist, or, rather, I ran out of other projects. I have toyed with the idea of converting it to a freewheel, but the kits are hard to find and the coaster brake is a good back up on rainy days when steel is not so trusty.
