My first conversion project. Bought the Raleigh complete as 21 speed rarely used via craigslist. Stripped all parts off and put them aside so I can convert it back if I decide to someday. It was quite the project. BB wasnt a standard size plus it came with coitered BB. Had to have the BB housing bored to fit a Shimano BB that was suitable for fixed gear. The head tube was also an oddball size. No 1" headset would fit properly as it was just under 1". Ended up borning the headtube to fit a Tiange Headset. The original Raleigh fork was broken during a really bad encounter with a pothole.
I've included pix of the original and the new. Updated photo to show hornet as she is today with risers and matching rims and different tires.
Now I'm building up an 1956 Raleigh with 3-speed Sturmy for my girlfriend.
