Warning: Scams and Hoaxes

Be careful and look out for scams and hoaxes. Some suspicious things to keep in mind:

• Brand new users offering ridiculously good deals
• Money order / check cashing scams
• Someone with no prior history on velospace (check their profile for bikes, comments, forum posts, etc.)
• Request to pay with non-trackable or non-cancelable funds
• Shipping without tracking

Always:

• Keep copies of all your communications with the buyer/seller
• Remember that for sale posts only last for two weeks so save a copy if the sale post if you don't have your stuff by the end of the two weeks
• Get another means of contacting the buyer or seller besides for velospace private messages, including phone number and address
