I have nearly the same frame (not posted on Velospace currently). Mine is a 1980/81 Traveler with the same color scheme. As a single speed, it's not to bad, not to heavy either.

How do you like the ride?

The geometry is really relaxed, so it's a smooth ride, great for long distances. Pretty fast with the 48/18 gearing as well.
I can imagine it runs great as a single speed too, although freewheels make me fall over nowadays :[
I'd like to see yours up here one day!
