Winter fixed-gear commuter built up out of junkyard frame and a combination of gifts, leftovers from upgrades, and junkyard and flea-market finds. Painted with rubberized automotive rustproofing spray because we thought it might help protect the bike against winter road conditions and, well, because we could.

wow thats kind of incredible. great minds think alike i guess!? haha

i was going to use the bedliner spray too (i assume thats what you used)? but i ended up using textured rustoleum.

your bike looks good man!

keep peddling!

yeah, i was pretty stunned

yeah, i was pretty stunned at the similarity between our bikes, it's what motivated me to finally get some pictures up.

i think the stuff we sprayed this with is basically the same as the bedliner, but it might be a bit softer. this stuff is marketed as auto-body undercoat, but it's just your standard goopy spray paint. be interesting to see how it holds up compared to the rustoleum.

the rustoleum is holding up

the rustoleum is holding up so-so. if i bump it with a wrench or something, it will flake off a bit. i'll probably add a couple more coats (i bought like 5 cans of the stuff) once it gets a little warmer.

where are you located?

the rubberized stuff has the

the rubberized stuff has the same problem -- it sloughs off dirt and salt pretty nicely, but scrape it, and it comes off pretty easily. we did a primer undercoat, so there's a little protection beyond the goopy stuff, but there are a few spots already where it's down to the original finish. Frankly, though, the bike's holding up a lot better than i thought it would. which sucks, 'cause i'd been planning to use its inevitable collapse into a heap of iron oxide as an excuse to buy a fancy custom frame.

i'm in new jersey. my bike is your bike's ugly jersey cousin!
