Got a good deal on the frame & carbon fork on Craigslist (included a photo of the original condition of the frame). Media blasted, powder coated and built-up my first road bike with parts found on eBay. Grand total about 0

Did that original paint have

Did that original paint have a color fade, or is that just the flash? Did the frame say caad5 on it somewhere? As best I can remember they first showed up in the 2001 line and had integrated headsets.

I stand corrected...

I looked into the Caad designation for the R600 and now that you point it out, I acknowledge that I'm mistaken. I consulted the vintage Cannondale archive. According to that info, the head badge on the R600 and the 27.2mm seatpost indicate that it's a '96. I stand corrected, and will fix the title straight-away.

this frame was originally one solid color front to back; matte/satin red. Paint wasn't faded. Combination of flash & matte finish made it look pink.
