Gear ratio

Well, I had 44/16t on my old bike and found that a bit low, needed some top speed. The Ritchey 48t was a bargain and its a great crankset. I used a chain calculator and found that the 16t cog would be perfect with a half-link chain. I did use the Sheldon Brown trick ,to file a flat spot on the axle and move the wheel 2-3mm forward. Now that the chain has been run in, the chain slack i perfect!

Magic gear.

Was it easy to find the magic gear ratio?
