Thank you for the bike abuse advice. This method does sound promising, but bending it back...wouldn't that just make it more weak? (and more chances of getting everything from my thoracic spine up destroyed?) I found a new fork, but this i will keep in mind. //MJ

Fork

Glad you found a new fork.. On bending the old one...I worked in a shop for years and that type on fork bend is common. We would pull the fork off and lay it flat and use a rubber mallet to "cold set it". I wouldn't keep bending it back and forth , that would weaken it. But a one time thing...you would be supprised on how common cold setting is in frame building. Too long...Ride On!

i've got a '63. Those things are so heavy. I've put tons of miles on mine, though.
Can't wait to see it built!
