Bought the frame set from a group (one guy in particular but. . ) of real nice fellahs from Brooklyn at a bike swap in leighigh valley. Two gents owned the bike post its arrival to the states in 2006. Prior to that it was owned and ridden by a belgan, built up with era perfect campagnolo record. It was a beautiful cycle. One of the two gents, a previous owner of the bike, is a Eddy Merckx PRO himself.
Looking to build it up with a mix of era specific components and newer integrated shifters. But we will see . . .
"1985 was a transitional year for Merckx: under the bottom bracket cable routing, some new lug bits that year + the prior, new graphics in the later part of the year. This frame is probably from the last batch not labeled as a Corsa -- its got the P on the bottom bracket of a Professional. Old-style, Cinelli brake bridge instead of the later Merckx labeled bridge which intro'd in 1986. Sloping fork, which was first intro'd in either '84 or '85. Its got a Cinelli "windowed" bottom bracket, Campy drops, top tube brake routing... "
Rides like a dream. black brooks leather bar tape. .
