Components are nothing to write home about, but someone put some aero levers on it and they help. It brakes well, but the textured braking surface on the Rigida steelies is very noisy, although might help in the rain.

my first real bike!

Same color and everything. Yours looks pretty damn original except for (maybe) the rear derailleur. It would have had the infamous Simplex Prestige. (Stick with what you have.) Worthwhile upgrade if you wanted would be new rims as, yes, the stock steel ones are terrible.

Good eye - the rear

Good eye - the rear derailleur has been changed (by the prev. owner). There is an old Shimano SIS on there. I had originally planned to throw some 700c's on there, newer calipers and a wider set of alloy bars but my sis decided she wanted it as it was. I agree though, sme upgrades would help it out in both the performance and weight department as it is a bit of a tank.

sweet

frame/fork are in great shape!
