1970's, 53cm Speedwell - keepin' it real with steel!

Stock - 38cm bars, Cinelli wrapped

Stock

27", gold anodised Shimano hub with Araya rim

27", gold anodised Shimano bmx hub with Araya rim

Stock - 165mm cranks

SCOTT saddle and stock post

Candy C's (usually) - Connex chain

48 x 18 - good for city commuting and the couple of hills I ride every day

I got the bike off ebay (mainly for the frame) for the price of a carton of beer. I picked up the saddle and wheels off ebay too, both cheaper than if I had bought them through a local shop, then added IRC Roadwinner tyres for a bit of speed. I also hacked off the bosses to give it a cleaner look.

Originally this was going to be my stand-by bike, but I haven't stopped riding it since I finished it. It's fast, light and the narrow bars make it really manouverable through traffic. It's a much more fun ride than my SS MTB. My next project is definately a fixed! Hopefully a nice old, Colnago or similar!

SOLD to finance my next project.

Grey Ghost

Handsome ride! I dig the steel-- the little crease in the chain stay at the bottom bracket is delicious.

I used to have a car I named the "Grey Ghost;" it was a gross asphalt-colored compact with half the paint bubbling, but I contended that it blended in so well with the pavement that I never got a speeding ticket.
