Not sure of exact background of this frame, but it is certainly the same as Rominger rode for his hour record. This one is stamped 'A60' - there where at least two frames made for the record. The colour scheme/graphics are identical to the Rominger bike. To be totally period correct it should have tri-bars, but the build is pretty close. Weighs 17lbs, which is pretty good for a steel framed bike of the period. Has the amazing Colnago Oval CX lugs and tube-set

Yes, got the frame off ebay. The frame and forks are definitely the correct match. The paint and wear was identical. And they are the correct Oval CX style forks to match the frame. How come you had the forks and not the rest?

i know the guy who imported this from poland, where he bought it at a bike jumble. he now works for katana bikes, building and designing frames i think. Anyway he swapped the frame and forks with a mate, who couriered on it for a while, for a specialized roubaix pro frame. Because he was riding it everyday he put longer forks on it to make it more comfortable. I took the original forks in exchange for some other stuff. He then sold it to james, who you bought it from, and i sold the forks on ebay and james bought them! it's a small inbred world of bike parts!

650 SHAMAL

Are you in the UK or the US? The best place to go for 650 Shamals is Time Trialers/Triathletes. I got mine off http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk. I just posted a wanted ad and got 2 replies very quickly. There must be a similar forum in the US. For time trialer/triatheletes these are now low tech so they are happy to sell them cheaply. Am pretty sure you will get one fairly quickly if you go down this route. Obviously am not planning to sell the perfect condition front wheel of my lovely new bike (:
