it's easy to install if you

it's easy to install if you have basic bike tools. the shims are installed at HED only. they basically manipulate the angle so everything is perfectly even and straight to the mm.

you put a surly fixxer on the rear hed 3?

bought the wheel directly

bought the wheel directly from HED. they converted the wheel to track for me with what looks like to be a surly fixxer. they shimmed the fixxer to make the wheel even more true.

got it almost a decade ago

got it almost a decade ago at an LBS. it's a Cannondale and it came from one of their TT bikes. i used it on my MTB hybrid until i got my Pista. I painted it black and repaired the stripped threads. oldie but goodie....
