This is my first fix gear bike. Learning more everyday. This has renewed my love of cycling. Have not tried the freewheel yet, but anticipate using it in the future for long rides. I sanded and stripped the frame, and removed all cable guides myself. Powder coating or paint still to come, prior to the rainy season. I highly recommend the Le Tour frame. I’m 6’1” and this frame is 24.5” center to center on the seat tube. Fits me great. Stand over height takes some getting used to. This bike is solid and corners well on the 700x23c tires, no issues yet with 170 cranks. I may move to 25c tires with more tread for the winter.
Building a bike up from a yard sale frame is quite and enjoyable process. I would recommend to anyone thinking of buying a newer cheap wielded frame, or Chinese’s made complete setup, to hold off. Find a unique lugged frame a yard sale or thrift store and build the bike up yourself. Do the research and enjoy the uniqueness of your ride!

Paint

I'm going to repaint my old raleigh, if i strip it should I worry about it rusting quickly? Howd you strip it?

Paint it? Are you NUTZ!

That bike looks great au natural! I'd powder coat it in clear to keep the tin worm at bay then call it quits. Just my 2 cents...
I've always wanted to try the stripped look. This bike is proof this look works great.

Thanks!

I've got to admit, I'm seriously torn over the decision. I did not realize clear powder coat was an option. Major bike decisions cause me serious stress! British Racing Green or Clear? I AM NUTZ!
