OE?

What is meant by original Pletcher rack and frame pump? I wasn't aware that UO-8's came with Pletcher racks. The new UO-8 that I had in the 70's I'm positive never had a Pletcher rack; I only remember it having a Mafac tool kit and a "#1 pump" frame pump. (I think the dealer added aluminum fenders to it also and possibly aluminum rims.)

The 1976 UO-8 I have now never had a Pletcher style rack on it either because there's no scratches on the seat stays where such a rack would have been installed. In fact the pump pegs have all their paint, too, indicating a pump was never installed on this bike that I can see.

As much as I like my UO-8 because of the nice blue paint job and neat graphics, and because it brings back fond memories of my younger years, these really were lousy bikes. They had a low quality frame with antiquated geometry only good possibly for touring, and about every part on them left a lot to be desired. It's hard to find one nowadays that hasn't had something changed on it, or hasn't been turned into a completely different type of bike.

Uo8

Very nice preservation/restoration. I am hunting for auo8. It was my first 10 speed.

Lovely as is.

Well-preserved machine!

Well-preserved machine! I've got the same f&f in yellow but the project is hindered (until winter anyway) by the previous owner having removed half of the cranks and giving up.
