nice bike, great details!

Bike is good, love the details -- drilled Stronglight crank (standard TA rings are solid, as I recall), adjustable MAFAC levers (cheaper ones had half cushions; these are full), TA handlebar bag rack (nicely chromed), and bar-end shifters (Suntour, perhaps?). And are those shellacked grips? Sweet!

my nostalgic heart

My first ever "real" bike was a Bertin. Saved for over a year in 6th grade to buy it around 1976. Back then the 5-speed rear clusters were made from individual rings so you could specify what gears you wanted. I traded in the Simplex rear derailleur for a Sun Tour VGT-Luxe (long cage) and customized the TA cranks so the inner ring was 17 teeth smaller than the big ring. It essentially gave me the gearing of a modern compact crankset. I rode that bike forever and stupidly sold it about 30 years later. I don't remember triples in the 70s.
