project bike need info---anyone know how old this bike is???

This bike has been viewed over a hundred times and know one has put forth any info???Should I toss it out and get something different? tear it down and get creative? any parts worth saving? A little help please.

I'm no authority but i'd say

I'm no authority but i'd say early/mid eighties.
First things first, does it fit you? Yes - keep going. No - donate it to bike program.
Is it heavy Hi-Ten steel or good old Cro-Moly? Hi-Ten - Pitch. CroMo - keep it.
I see a rusted steel seatpost & steel quill stem (1")- judging from this parts spec, bike started out cheap.
Alloy rims or steel? If alloy, throw 1.25 slicks on there. If steel, donate bike.
What's your budget? Don't put more than to get it on the road.
Just my 2 cents.

yeah it fits and rides at

yeah it fits and rides at present.......the frame says aluminum tubes, which is strange cuz there is rust at some of the nicked areas, but then I read that Raleigh made some aluminum steel bonded frames, so if anything I'm more confused then ever. The derailers and shifters are Suntour and seem to work well, are these decent...or low budget?

Yeah, "Technium" is what

Yeah, "Technium" is what they called their aluminum frames.

I've been warned off them, but no one's ever explained why.

Apparently, there was a recall in 95, but I don't know if that tells you anything.

Thanks...at this point any
