I picked this beautiful bike up from a guy doing spring cleaning so that I would have a beater bike to ride around campus. I love the indexed downtube shifters. Everything is original except the added rack and fenders. While I bought this bike to be a beater, I really love riding it. The Reynolds 531 Steel frame is comfortable and the bike rides great.

PS I'm going to borrow my wonderful girlfriend's camera to take better pictures. Sorry for the crappy camera phone pics for the time being.

There must be something

There must be something about the older Treks. I have a 520 that I love to ride as well and my story about how I came to have it isn't much different than yours. I have the same rack on mine too. I had another old Trek 560 Pro Series that I upgraded over time. It was sweet too. In a weak moment of upward mobility, I foolishly sold it so I could buy some new wheels for another bike. The wheels are great, but I think about that bike. I sold it to a young kid who was looking to get into triathalons so I think it went to someone who will appreciate it.

Nice !!!

Nice, purposeful bicycle. I admire show bikes, but I love bikes that get ridden !!! Like your's ! Fixed gear ? Why not if you're not into EFFICIENCY. I mean, if fixed gears were the ultimate in efficiency, Lance Armstrong would've ridden a fixed gear. He didn't. My experience , if you want a fixed gear, is: buy a cheapo second hand track machine, strip it back to bare metal, re-build it from there and add whatever you want or can afford.

Don't worry! This bike is

Don't worry! This bike is keeping its gears. The only possible change in gearing would be these beautiful dura-ace indexed shifters I've been lusting over at the local bike shop. But I can't afford all the new parts that would entail. The fixie I'm building is an old Schwinn Le Tour frame that I stripped all the parts off of for other purposes. I'll post my other bikes ASAP.

Yep, those pics were taken outside the Love building. I'm at a disadvantage because I may see your bike every day, but you haven't posted pictures so I wouldn't know. Are they coming any time soon :-D?
