why do you have a back brake instead of a front brake or no brake?

but the vast majority of your braking power comes from you front brake, if your worried about getting car doored a front brake will stop you A LOT faster

A rear brake on a fixed gear is often effectively redundant, since the rider can perform the same action that the rear brake performs by locking his or her legs and skidding.

Having one brake is smart, but it should be on the front, not the rear. You should read this article for a better explanation.

than just skidding? i'm not a fan of how it looks but that's just what i'm used to.
