Aplogies if this question has been covered elsewhere - but my question is whether crank length and and even your chain ring size/bcd will have a significant impact on your ability to slow down and skid stop on a fixed gear; or is it simply a matter of combining different gear ratios?
  1.
BCD has no effect at all, it's pretty much all gear ratio. Lower gear ratio=easier to skid Different crank arm lengths will have an impact, albeit a pretty small one.

Thanks - yeah I figured that would be the case pretty much. I guess the crank length would have impact on cadence which would help a little slowing down.
