my lbs carries these frames. they're also out to make a quick buck in any way possible (purposely stripping folks cranks, selling used tires as new everwears or whatever they're called, selling crashed bikes as new, overcharging for labor), and i assume he gravitated towards these frames for that reason.
they don't look bad (other than aesthetically, maybe), but i think i'd save my $200 and put it towards something with a track record or at least wait until all the bloggers who were sent these frames post something one way or the other about the frame. -

You wouldn't happen to live in Atlanta would you? I had this one guy a the lbs just roaring about these the day they got in to the shop....it was weird. I'd say wait it out. -

nah, i'm in baton rouge/new orleans. it kinda creeps me out that there's no word on this frame, other than the one thread i posted...and it mentions a fork breaking, but when i google "origin 8 del pasado fork break," i get nothing. -

seeing as i work at a LBS i got a really good price on a a 59cm Del pasado frameset. I really like it. it can bar spin but i can still haul some ass. ive ridden it probly 50 miles now and have only noticed that i need new bairings in my bb which i scavenger off another bike. i would strongly recomend the frame the only thing that made me even slightly upset with the frame was that they clear coated too far up the fork and had to file it down to get the headset cup to fit over
P.S. im 195lbs and ride it every day brakeless so it can hold up to skidding and jammin through trafic on a 52/17 ratio -

I got hit by a car today on my origin 8 del pasado. The car was going about 20 and id say i was going about 15.
And let me say damn i was lucky i came out with a bent to shit crankset, a Pringled back rim, and the guy paid me to fix my bike little does he know I get discounts on just about anything because mi madre works with REI and i just order my parts through the store and get a fatty discount
But anyways what i am really getting to is, The frame was perfectly fine after getting molly wopped by a mini van.
and I came out fine just covered in road rash -

I just built up a single speed on a Del Pasado frame, with a coaster brake hub on the back. I love the frame except that the Origin8 website claims it can handle 35c tires, and mine wouldn't. I bought a pair of creme Schwalbe 700c xx 35c and installed them on my rims. They were right purdy, but when I tried to install the front wheel, it wouldn't fit. It didn't hit the sides; it hit the bottom of the steering tube, or the top of the fork, however you want to call it.
I used almost all origin8 parts, including crank, mustache bars, seatpost, stem, and I gotta say, Origin8 parts are one of the best bargains around! -

I worked in a bike shop for the summer, and I have to say this frame kinda' sucks. The one person who bought the frame while I was there had to return it because the seatstays were welded unevenly on the seat tube causing the rear wheel to sit crooked. The other Del Pasado frame in the bike shop seemed to have the same problem. Also, if you haven't encountered one, they are super heavy. -

also work at a bike store and saw one of these liked it so i got one and built up a bike and i still stand by it. i have a Flight 100 also and i think the O-8 is almost on par. also how did you determine that they are "super heavvy" my whole bike is 20lbs on the dot. thats barely heavier than the Kilo TT and lighter than the Schwinn Madison so in comparison to other cro-mo frames in the same price range no its not super heavy.
