Well this week the cyclists from all over the nation and many other countries have taken to the roads of Iowa. (http://ragbrai.com/) They call this closely knit pack of riders (10,000) "the thing that ate Iowa". Tomorrow I'll be joining them for the final stage of the ride on Saturday (it's not too far from my home). The first day of the ride you dip your rear tire in the Missouri River and the last day (500 miles later) you dip your front wheel in the Mississippi River. The weather will definately play a role in which bike I take, right now we're expecting thunderstorms. So it looks like the Bridgestone will be the steed of choice. The BS and I did the whole thing once upon a time in 1992 (525 miles).

The question to you all is; have you done a large organized ride and why? If you haven't why not? What was your favorite organized ride.

I did GRABAAWR, in Wisconsin. Lots of fun, not nearly as crowded as RAGBRAI...

That was a few weeks ago and it's totally supported isn't it?
  1.
I've been on RAGBRAI all week and It's been a grand time. I did the century yesterday which was fun but exhausting. I'll be on a red cannondale synapse with a black selle italia turbo saddle so if you happen to see me give me a shout.

There were plenty of C drives out there for sure. After the storms cleared at midnight I brought my Cannondale also (19642). I left Mt Pleasant at 7:15 and dipped the wheel at 9:58. Snake Alley definately took a bite out.. LoneWolf has posted on RAGBRAI too, he's out of Michigan I believe.. Maybe next year we'll figure out a way to coordinate this.

    Greg,
That'd be great. We could definately have a time. I've not ridden an organized ride of this type with a group, but think it would be great. I also believe that to enjoy yourselves you would need to have road bikes... Not that there aren't alot of mtn and hybrids, but a road bike on a run like this is definately a plus..
    Team VeloSpace?

    Now for the jerseys... ??
